Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry that treats malocclusion, a condition in which the teeth are not correctly positioned when the mouth is closed. This results in an improper bite. We specialize in making the teeth straight. Treatment can be cosmetic, to improve a person’s appearance, but it often aims to improve oral function, too.

Align Teeth - Orthodontics

Teeth straightening is the process of aligning and moving teeth into the right position according to a person’s bite using external force and pressure over time. In simple words – if you have crooked, misaligned or misplaced teeth, they can be aligned again properly. Basically, teeth straightening is aimed at improving dental health by correcting crooked teeth, underbites, overbites, deep bites, open bites, cross bites, teeth gaps, and other flaws of the teeth and jaw.

Fixed Appliance / Clip

Clip or Dental braces are wire-based appliances that orthodontists use to correct crowded and misaligned teeth or jaws. Clips are devices used to align crooked teeth and fill the gap in between them. They are strategically placed to apply just the right pressure on teeth and move them into the correct position. This is the most common type of brace today, often known as "train tracks". Brackets are glued onto the teeth and linked by wires. Small elastic hoops are often used to hold the wire in position. Usually, braces need to be worn for 18 months to 2 years. However, the duration of the treatment depends on your goal and the type of braces you choose.

Habit Breaking Appliance

Habit appliances, also known as habit breaking appliances, bluegrass appliances, tongue cribs, thumb cribs, or palatal cribs, are specialized dental appliances that are used to break detrimental dental habits in children. Most commonly, habit appliances are used to discontinue behaviors such as finger or thumb sucking. Habit appliances still allow the child to place their finger or thumb in their mouth, however they make it more uncomfortable, which eventually discourages the child from continuing this behavior. Habit appliances work best when parents help reinforce the treatment as well.

Growth Modification Appliance/ Myofuntional

Considering disadvantages of classic functional appliances such as being bulky, limited alignment of the teeth, being made of inflexible materials such as acrylic, and the need for impression and laboratory procedure; pre-orthodontic trainers are designed which work as a myofunctional appliance. These appliances are used in mixed dentition period for myofunctional correction and tooth eruption guidance and they can align the teeth due to their more flexible structure compared to other functional appliances.

Correction of Alignment in Kids

Having healthy-looking teeth is important since it is one of the first things people notice during interactions. Having an unsightly set of teeth can wreak havoc on someone's self-esteem and it is even worse for kids. Children with poorly-aligned teeth are often subjected to teasing and bullying because of their appearance. That can make what should be the fun years for a child, a nightmare. Fortunately, there are many options available when it comes to teeth straightening for kids. Traditional metal braces are the most affordable way to straighten a child's teeth. Braces are not always the go-to treatment when it comes to straightening a person's smile. Sometimes, a simple extraction is enough to improve the alignment of a patient's teeth.

Aligners

Aligners are clear, custom-made mouthguard-like braces that slip over your teeth and bring them in the correct position with repeated wear. Unlike other braces, they are not visible on your teeth and can be removed when you’re having mealand slipped back on. Moreover, they are quicker than traditional metal braces. Clear Aligners are transparent trays made of special material which are used to straighten teeth just like braces. They use gentle and constant force to move the teeth in the required position without going through the hassles of metal wires and brackets. They are custom made for each patient through a digital scan.
